“The Youth Olympic Games, as their name indicates it, are first and foremost Olympic Games. They constitute a high-level international sports event in which young athletes aged between 15 and 18 compete for medals. But the concept of these YOG, as developed by its founders, goes far beyond the sporting competition. They also constitute an event with educational and cultural components. These are both for the athletes and their entourage, who will visit us in 2020, but also, and most importantly, for the youth of our region who, already today, actively contribute to the planning and the organisation of the event.”
Ian Logan, CEO Lausanne 2020
